I think I have a varicocele, what should I do? The #1 thing you need to confirm 100% is that you only have varicocele and no other conditions. I have no symptoms but am concerned about infertility.Infertility is an important and real concern. About 40-60% of those with varicocele will develop infertility. Should I be concerned?Yes, you should be concerned. Varicocele-induced aching and pain are an indication that the testicles are either under stress or are being damaged due to toxic blood pooling. Aching and pain mean that you must, at a minimum, start preventative measures as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage to the testicles. Do not listen to doctors who recommend doing nothing. Don't just leave it. That makes no sense. You can and must prevent further damage. I was diagnosed with Infertility. What now?Note: Do not self-diagnose infertility; you must have some fertility test done to know if you have infertility or not. Low sperm count, motility, morphology, etc., are measurable sperm parameters. Suppose you have low or very low levels of any of these parameters. In that case, there may be an indication that the testicles are either under a lot of stress or are damaged and, therefore, cannot perform their normal function at this time. What are our options?Pregnancy is a complex topic. 40% of pregnancy problems are due to male factors, 40% female, and 20% both. Unfortunately, there is an over-emphasis on female factors, and the male's treatment options are usually entirely overlooked. There are thousands of treatments for infertility as well as dozens of controllable varicocele risk factors: You can exercise, have a healthier diet, reduce your stress, perform yoga or acupuncture, cooling treatments, take supplements, etc. There are so many options! What should I do?Before treating varicocele, you must ensure that you have no other conditions other than varicocele. Make sure to see your doctor and a specialist for an accurate diagnosis! However, saying that there is a cure for varicocele is the same as saying that there is a cure for obesity. There isn't. You can reduce varicocele and make it go away. Then, there are ways of living that will prevent you from redeveloping a varicocele. It is important to note that varicocele surgery and embolization are NOT cures. They are interventions. Cutting veins is NOT curing them. Putting coils or foam in veins is NOT curing them. There are many effective treatment options for reducing varicocele swelling, preventing varicocele progression, completely curing pain, and restoring fertility. Are varicocele surgery or embolization effective for varicocele treatment?Before you even consider surgery as an option, the real question is: Are there safer and more effective treatment options? If the answer is "Yes!" you should not consider surgery as a first-line treatment for varicocele. Is surgery effective? The answer is no. It may be effective as an aesthetic procedure. However, it does not significantly improve pregnancy rates or pain relief. Some studies have noted mild improvements in testosterone production. Learn more about surgery.
