Right now, many scientific publications are coming out that demonstrate the negative impact of excessive sitting on fertility and varicocele. Those who sit longer develop higher grade varicoceles and more severe symptoms.
Sitting more than a total of 8 or more hours a day has a major negative impact on our health. It is so bad that someone who sits but is active has the as bad health outcomes as someone who smokes, drinks alcohol, and has diabetes.
More relevant to us, sitting more than 6 hours a day is a major varicocele risk factor. It exacerbates the nutcracker effect, pressurizes the torso, is terrible for bowel health, and creates major muscular imbalances that increase varicocele swelling.
Since we cannot avoid sitting, the solution is to sit better. Use arm rests, do not wear tight pants and belts, wear proper underwear that won't overheat your testicles, use a foot rest, lean back against the seat, sit with good posture, avoid cushiony chairs, make sure your testicles do not over heat, do not sit down after masturbation or sex, etc.

Testicular Hyperthermia: Major Controllable Risk Factor.
I bet that you didn't know, but the veins that form your varicocele are actually also responsible for cooling your testicles! So varicocele actually damages testicular heat regulation.
Now, your testicles are outside of your body for a reason. They need to be kept cool! Overheating causes testicular damage (pain), and impairs testosterone production & fertility.

For example, you stress the varicocele by masturbating or having sex before exercising. This elevates scrotal temperatures, increases blood flow to the testicles, and induces scrotal sagging. Workout like that and you can guarantee yourself swelling and pain.
During exercise, obviously, having excessive abdominal pressure will increase the pressure on your lower abdominal area & impair blood flow from the testicles. That means do not eat too much before exercising, and avoid performing strenuous activities when bloated.

Your diet does effect your varicocele to a large degree. A proper diet will help minimize the Nutcracker Syndrome and mitigate damage to testicles and testicular veins.
Make sure your diet promotes healthy bowels and bowel movement. A diet filled with anti-oxidants is also very helpful. A diet supportive of healthy vascular maintenance and development is also very important.
