Why I Made This Page
I just put so much time and effort into taking good care of my clients, and I keep getting the same treatment questions over and over. So, I thought it would be valuable to share the questions and answers with everyone. All personal-identifying information has been removed, and the customer has given informed consent for these to be posted. I'm sure you'll find this page very useful. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions yourself: email@example.com.
Search! Find answers to almost any varicocele and varicocele treatment-related questions.
The typical spam-filled answer you will get on Quora is “buy my supplement”, “come in for embolization”, “try my fertility smoothie”, “take advil”, and “try ayurveda”.
Unfortunately none of those answers address the real root cause of varicocele.
Varicocele is caused by many risk factors.
I personally reduced my grade 3 varicocele now down to zero, and have helped many men do the same. All without surgery. What makes the difference?
Again, it’s the recognition that there are many risk factors that need to be addressed. Conversely, this also means that there is no quick fix for varicocele.
The approach that I recommend to my patients is the same as the one recommended by Daniel at Varicocele Healing.
The approach takes 6 months to a year for full results. Moreover, just like maintaining a healthy weight, you must maintain the right lifestyle for best results. Just like improving your diet reduces your weight over time, follow the specific improvements for varicocele will reduce your varicocele over time.

Exercise type is also important! A study came out showing that men who play basketball are more likely to develop varicocele than those who play water polo. Yet another study showed a relationship between biking duration and varicocele symptoms and grade. There is also a relationship between elite athletes and varicocele. As well, another study linking long-distance running to varicocele.
Risk factors identified in scientific trails:

Varicocele is swollen testicle veins. Just the veins. These veins carry de-oxygenated blood back to the heart. They really are not associated with your bladder. However, there is a fact that blood pooling from varicocele causes a 70–120 fold increase in testosterone pooling and exposure in surrounding tissue. It is actually a major cause of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is associated with urinary retention.
Therefore, yes, indirectly, varicocele can effect urinary retention by causing hypertrophy of the prostate and surrounding tissue through testosterone pooling.
I’m doubtful that it effects varicocele effects urinary retention in any other way. Just think about it. Varicocele is simply varicose veins of the testicles. This pools toxicities and testosterone, and causes over heating of the testicles. Not much else to it in all honesty. I don’t see how any of those factors other than testosterone would effect urination.
